"Modernization of National Military University "V. Levski" - the city of Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Sofia, in professional field 5.3 Computer and communication technology"

The National Military University "Vasil Levski", in its capacity as the leader of the organization, began work on the project "Modernization of the National Military University "V. Levski" - Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Sofia, in professional direction 5.3 Computer and communication technology", financed under the operational program "Science and education for intellectual growth 2014-2020". Associated project partners with the Military Technical Academy, Bucharest and the Henry Coanda Aviation and Air Defense Academy, Brasov.

Within the framework of the project, the partners will develop a total of 5 compatible programs, of which 4 master's and one doctoral. All newly developed programs will be digitized, in addition 3 of them will be developed in English for training with the associate partner. It is planned to build a virtual university with online teaching-methodical kits, incl. an online GIS educational platform, as well as the purchase of the necessary equipment and software for the introduction of the digital educational content, through which to achieve effective use of innovative digital technologies in the educational process. The project provides training to improve teachers' foreign language and digital skills, incl. for working with innovative ICT-based educational technologies, as well as outgoing mobilities and short-term specializations at the associated partners, the results of which will be multiplied by sharing teachers between the National University of the Arts and the University of St. Kliment Ohridski". To create an effective connection between higher education institutions and the labor market and to achieve an adequate match between the demand and the supply of specialists with higher education, the project partners will build a single career center and a system for tracking the realization of the completed students. It is also planned to organize career fairs and accelerators, as well as additional courses for students aimed at acquiring entrepreneurial skills and social competence.

The main goal of the partner organizations in the present project is the construction of a modern and sustainable educational system in two higher schools, based on innovative and virtual teaching models, by ensuring digital transformation, digitization of programs and multidisciplinarity, thereby ensuring an effective connection between the two higher schools and the labor market and to achieve an adequate match between the demand and supply of specialists with higher education.

By modernizing the learning content and teaching methods, incl. through the activities carried out to increase the skills of teachers to work with digital and cloud technologies, to apply flexible educational models and especially cross-border cooperation, organized by the partners "V. Levski" and SU "St. Kliment Ohridski" you set yourself an overall increase in the coefficients in the Rating System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria for professional direction 5.3 Communication and computer technology.

Through the successful implementation of the planned activities in the project, the partner organizations aim to contribute directly to the implementation of the main objectives of the program, namely the digitization and digital transformation of higher education, increasing the professional qualification and work skills of the teaching staff with innovative, ICT-based platforms, as well as for the internationalization of the scientific achievements of VU and their inclusion in international partner networks.

At the moment, the following study plans for master's programs have been developed and accepted:

Geoinformation technologies in crisis management
Geoinformation management and applications
Communication technologies in security
and Cybersecurity PhD program.

There are 7 short-term specializations in the associated partner, the Military Technical Academy, Bucharest, by teachers at Vasil Levski National University.
Intensive English language training in the field of ICT was conducted with 4 groups of learners.

Implementation period: 30 months
Budget: BGN 1,963,234.00, of which BGN 1,215,544 for Vasil Levski National University, BGN 747,690 for Kliment Ohridski University of Applied Sciences.
Method of financing: 85% or BGN 1,668,748.90 from the EU, 15% or BGN 294,485.10 national co-financing.
